Statistical Nightmare of Causal Feedback’: How Spatial Econometric Models Improve Empirical Tests of Party Competition


The afternoon lectures from the IPSA-Flacso Mexico’s Summer School on Methods, Concepts and Techniques in Political Science are here! The first conference is Statistical Nightmare of Causal Feedback’: How Spatial Econometric Models Improve Empirical Tests of Party Competition by Laron K. Williams from the University of Missouri. This talk will have comments by Benjamin Temkin, researcher of the Latin American Faculty of Social Sciences in Mexico.
Laron Williams received his Ph.D in Political Science from the Texas A&M University in December 2008. He is an Associate Professor and Major Garrett Fellow in Political Science at the University of Missouri. He specializes in examining the role of parliamentary oppositions in policy making, political methodology, and how domestic political institutions constrain the foreign policy choices of executives.
His research interests include:
Comparative politics in advanced industrial democracies
International relations (Conflict Studies)
Quantitative methods.
