Innovation Types

Innovation can be thought of as occurring at three levels. First is Transformational Innovation, which matches Schumpeter’s concept of a “historic and irreversible change in the way of doing things.” The second is Substantial Innovation, which offers less surprise and scope than Schumpeter’s concept but still significantly upsets the conventional order. The third level is Incremental Innovation, which is the everyday engine of change for most organizations and individuals.
